Wilson Spencer Unique Art
INTRODUCING BEAT GALLERY ARTISTS Susan Spencer & Michael Wilson
Welcome to the unique art of Michael Wilson and Susan Spencer, North Bay assemblage artists on the coast of Mendocino. We specialize in assemblage art from found and altered objects, and also in fine art oils, acrylics and watercolors. This portfolio will feature a dynamic representation of our most current works along with works exemplifying our craft.
A visit to our upstairs studios connects you to two artists, working in similar media, in dissimilar approaches. Susan is the Capricorn of the two, pretty much showing up to work daily, and tidying up at the end of the day .She likes to keep a couple of projects going at a time, working back and forth, approaching the work with fresh eyes avoiding a piece 'growing stale.' Michael is the Leo. He awaits the muse, and when the idea presents itself, pounces in a flurry of activity, emerging with a 'masterpiece,' much to Susan's bewilderment.
Michael is the historian. He knows a lot about assemblage; who is and was working in the medium. He keeps abreast of what other artists are up to, engaging in conversations on social media and in person almost daily. Susan is not so much the social representative. "I have a harder time remembering names and dates, it's not that I don't care, I just wasn't wired like that."
And then there's the dogs...three terriers, noisy and demanding. A little overwhelming, unless they are all asleep. Did I mention that terriers like to bark?... And expect us to be their personal doormen during the day forsaking their doggy-door?
A visit to our Wordpress blog (link below) gives a more dynamic view of our idiosyncrasies presented with (hopefully) a little humor.
Inquiries as to any specific pieces can be made through this website and current exhibitions and show information can be accessed through our Wordpress blog where we keep a more dynamic conversation as to what we are up to and thoughts on our craft.
